The Delaware and Hudson Canal

In early 2004, I was contacted by a consultant working for the National Park Service, who asked if I would be interested in photographing the remains of a 19th century canal that ran from eastern Pennsylvania to the Hudson River. The intention was to show the canal as a historic and recreational resource and to raise funds for its restoration. Stretches of the canal and towpath, which are accessible for hiking, fishing and boating, as well as the remnants of massive stonework, make this an aesthetic and historic monument that is worth preserving.
